One God, many names
We
may get a doubt as to why God should have so many different names. Each of
these in fact refers to a particular quality of the Lord. We know that in a
house the son comes and addresses the head of the family as father, while the
daughter-in-law calls him father-in-law, the grandson addresses him as
grandfather, and the wife as “My dear husband”. Here we see that because he has
established different types of relationships, he is addressed by different
names by different people.
A
person acquires a different name depending on the nature of work that he
performs. Similarly depending on the time, situation and the country, God has
been given different names that are appropriate to the situation and role He
plays.
